CEO Agent

A coordinating AI agent that plans and delegates work to other agents, acting as the planning layer of an AI workforce.

A CEO agent is a coordinating agent that sits above a set of task-executing agents and is responsible for planning and delegation rather than for doing the detailed work itself. It interprets a high-level objective, decides what needs to happen, breaks the objective into tasks, and assigns those tasks to the appropriate specialized agents. This mirrors an organizational structure in which a leader sets direction and a team carries out the specifics, and it is one common way to organize a multi-agent AI workforce.

The pattern is sometimes called an orchestrator, supervisor, or manager agent in the broader literature; CEO agent is a product-facing name for the same planning-and-delegation role. Centralizing planning in one agent can make a system easier to reason about and supervise, because the plan and the task assignments are explicit and reviewable. As with other agentic components, consequential actions produced downstream are typically still routed through human approval before they take effect.
